Dec 25 - Merry Christmas
Allah's antipathy towards those who say Jesus is the Son Of God means that in increasingly large parts of the world, the celebration of His birth must be extremely circumspect so as to avoid a time of joy becoming a time of sorrow.
Have a safe and merry Christmas.
Dec 23 - Found Koran
Dec 10 - Crying Out Loud - Why Good People do Evil
.... for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
Steven Weinberg, Nobel Laureate, 1979
Last night, a French channel showed an interview with a hacker, whose identity of course was kept hidden, who had intercepted a conversation between a suicide bomber and his handler.
The most pathetic and moving part of the recorded exchange was that the soon to be dead young man was crying while his handler calmly assured him that he would soon be in Paradise where he, in his final words of encouragement, said he would soon be joining him, Allah willing.
The crying voice is now believed to be that of the Tunisian bus bomber.
Another cry (no pun intended) for a dialogue on the Koran,
Dec 6 - San Bernardino Slaughter
News reports now say that both Farook and his wife Malik did what is expected of holy warriors after spending time in Saudi Arabia. They could have been radicalized anywhere, for the reach of the propagators of Wahabism extends well beyond the boundaries of the Peninsula.
Nov 18 - Guys and Gals and Massacres in Allah's Name
Paris suicide bomber blows herself up as police storm suburb in hunt for mastermind
Ottawa Citizen, Nov 18
Guys blowing themselves up and shredding or setting the innocent on fire on a god's promise of an eternity of orgiastic sex with multiple partners including those famous female facsimiles, the houris, makes sense in a ghastly sort of way.
I cannot imagine a more unattractive life than an eternity without challenges, which seems to be most religion's idea of Paradise. Islam does offer the possibility of competitions to see who can fornicate with more houris on a given day, but that can get old real fast, especially for the cerebral types.
And for women, it's not so much a Paradise, but a constant struggle with all those heavenly sexually adept perpetual virgins, the houris, for the attention of their former earth-bound husbands.
Girls, IT'S NOT WORTH IT!
July 20 - It's A Crime!
Cameron warned that “strong, positive Muslim voices” are being drowned out by those who espouse the extremist ideology of ISIL.
Reuters, July 20

July 19 - Depressing!
Chattanooga shooter suffered from depression, family says
The family of the man who authorities say killed four Marines and sailor in Chattanooga said in a statement that their son Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez suffered from depression and was not the son they knew.
The Associated Press, July 19, 2015
It must be depressing for many Muslim men who aspire to more than a hedonistic lifestyle when they die to know that, in the end, the best that Allah’s afterlife has to offer for killing and dying in His Cause is permanent erections and non-stop, assembly-line sex with perpetual virgins and sexually adept female facsimiles, the infamous houris.
June 30 - Sorcery and Islam
Reuters reports that two Syrian women accused of sorcery were beheaded by Islamic State.
Sorcery is 32nd in the list of 40 Greater Sins (or Grave Sins), sins where the Koran, or a saying of the Prophet explicitly state, or imply that those who commit these sins will go to Hell.
June 13 - From Bulldozing to Bombing Treasured Ancient Relics
UNESCO has condemned the destruction of "'one of the world's oldest jewels' of Islamic culture in an air strike on the old city of Sana'a, a World Heritage Site.
Having bulldozed treasures of both antiquity and Islam's founding within their territory, the Saudis are now sending bombers to destroy what is beyond the reach of their excavators.
What is believed to be an earlier version of the Koran, the Sana'a Manuscripts, was found in 1972 during renovations of the Great Mosque of Sana'a in Yemen.
When Yemeni authorities were informed that this earlier Koran contained minor but significant differences from the version that orthodox Islam maintains is the perfect unchanging Word of God, they restricted access to the more than 40,000 pieces of parchment of which only an estimated 15,000 had been reviewed by Islamic and Western scholars.
June 12 - The Koran and Sedition
Boko Haram fighters burnt down six north-east Nigerian villages and killed 37 people near the insurgents’ Sambisa Forest stronghold …
many victims of Wednesday night’s attacks were farmers who had recently returned home after soldiers earlier this year forced the extremists out of the area where they had declared an Islamic caliphate.
Associated Press, June 12.
Holy warriors live, kill and die by the Koran; so, when holy warriors do something exceptional like destroying entire villages I look to the Koran for the verse that gives them the right. Could that be revelation 2:191?
2:191 Kill them wherever you find them and drive them out from wherever they drove you out. Sedition is worse than slaughter. Do not fight them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight you at it. If they fight you there kill them. Such is the reward for the unbelievers.
With the words "sedition is worse than slaughter" Allah reminds the believers that He would rather see the inhabitants of a region, city or community seeking to secede put to death rather than have them abandon Islam.
June 7 - Raef Badawi's Sentence
Saudi Supreme Court upholds verdict against liberal blogger flogged for insulting Islam
Associated Press, Jun. 07, 2015
Badawi, 30, has been sentenced to 1,000 lashes and a 10 year jail sentence for expressing an opinion in a blog which displeased the ruling royal family.
The most severe whipping in the Koran is reserved for adulterers, not bloggers.
24:2 The adulteress and the adulterer, whip each one of them a hundred lashes; and let no pity move you in Allah’s religion, regarding them; if you believe in Allah and the Hereafter. And let a group of believers witness their punishment.
The arrogance of the Saudi Princes and their Sharia Court imposing a sentence that is ten times what Allah recommends, short of death, for an offence that is not even in the top ten.
If Allah says a public whipping is the punishment for adultery, why are women accused of adultery still susceptible to being stoned to death in countries where the Koran is the law?
May 20 - Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll vs. Sex, Booty and Blood
RCMP intercept 10 at Montreal airport suspected of wanting to join jihadist groups,
Globe and Mail, May 20
'Money, guns, girls' is how ISIS recruits in the West writes Chloe Combi a consultant on youth issues for the Mayor of London.
The struggle for young males as defined by Islam could be summarized as sex (seduction), drugs and rock and roll vs. sex-on-demand, booty and blood with the latter being associated with a higher morality and God's Will.
Most of us, even when we have indulged in too much sex (seduction), drugs and rock and roll as adolescents, grow up to be responsible adults, while retaining a fondness for seduction and rock and roll.
Holy warriors, because God's Will is largely unchanging, should they outgrow their appetite for booty and killing lovers of music and sex as seduction, they too can be hunted down and murdered. That is perhaps the greater tragedy for it perpetuates a vicious circle of rape, killing and cupidity, all in the name of God
That young girls would want to follow their young men is understandable, even without the promise that, should they or the love of their life die a martyr, they will be reunited in Paradise and their love will be a love that will last for an eternity. How romantic is that!
For girls who could not find a boy to love them in this life, Allah promises to find them a suitable match in the Hereafter.

May 4 - A consequence of a lack of solidarity in the defence of freedom of expression
Police kill two gunmen outside Prophet Mohammed cartoon contest in Texas
Associated Press, May 4, 2015
If more newspapers had defended freedom of expression by publishing the cartoons when they first appeared, they would not have become a symbol of a struggle between us and them, the cartoonists at Charlie Hebdo would probably still be alive, nobody would care about a silly cartoon competition in Texas, and I would not be worried about a book cover.

April 26 -The Real Meaning of Boko Haram
Boko Haram is a nickname, given to it by Nigerians when it was formed in 2002. In the regional Hausa language, Boko Haram means Western education is forbidden. Its official name Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad in Arabic means 'People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet's Teachings and Jihad'.
BBC April 25
This is very much the same mission as Islamic State "which accepted a pledge of allegiance from Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau in March, giving the group its first foothold in sub-Saharan Africa in its efforts to create a global caliphate."
April 18 - A Matter of Interest
A motorcycle-riding suicide bomber attacked a bank branch Saturday in eastern Afghanistan, killing at least 35 people in a deadly attack the country’s president said was claimed by the Islamic State group.
Associated Press, April 18
The bank may not have been the target of Islamic State for, like other terrorist groups with a global or regional reach, it depends on the banking system to funnel funds to where they are most needed to further Allah's Cause.
This valuable service may explain why Western and western-style banks are seldom the targets of holy warriors despite Allah's pathological hatred of money-lenders who charge interest.
The Prophet's own aversion to the charging of interest may have had something to do with his experience as a borrower. Allah's Messenger would extend His Mentor's prohibition against earning interest on loans to the barter of goods.
April 16 - Lebensraum
Italy's migration crisis took on a deadly new twist Thursday as police in Sicily reported that Muslim migrants had thrown 12 Christians overboard during a recent crossing from Libya, and an aid group said another 41 were feared drowned in a separate incident.

March 18 - Allowing the Veil will not appease the "Bearded Ones"
Tourists killed, others taken hostage in attack on Tunisian parliament,
TUNIS — Reuters, Mar 18, 2015
The women of Tunisia thought that making sure that not a single hair was visible when going out in public (many opting for the full body covering including the oppressive veil) would be enough to get the bearded bullies off their backs. It wasn't!
At a barbecue at our house last summer a good friend despaired of her birthplace becoming a dark, joyless place where women are nowhere to be seen; the type of place that only the men of Islamic State could love.
Imagine her surprise when she returned to Tunisia, as she does every year to visit with her husband who retired to his ancestral home on the idyllic island of Djerba, and heard a voice on the radio advising women venturing out to go to work, to do so in groups to avoid being intimidated by "les barbus" (the bearded ones) into returning home.
In less than a year the "bearded ones" have gravitated from harassing women to killing and kidnapping Islamic State style. It does not bode well for the country that ignited the Arab Spring.
March 17 - What to Wear? Men vs. Women!
The Prophet was not only into telling people what to believe and how to behave but also what they should wear for this or that occasion. For example he mandated that a woman be veiled when answering the call of nature in nature so as to hide her identity from males doing the same thing within close proximity.
God's Messenger was not only concerned how women dressed but men as well. Take for instance his dress code for a Muhrim, a man who is not eligible to wed the females in his presence because of his suckling their breast milk.
Narrated Ibn Umar:
A person asked Allah's Apostle, "What should a Muhrim wear?"
He replied, "He should not wear shirts, trousers, a burnus (a hooded cloak), or clothes which are stained with saffron or Wars (a kind of perfume). Whoever does not find a sandal to wear can wear Khuffs, but these should be cut short so as not to cover the ankles"
Unlike believing women, modern believing men tend to be less concerned about what they wear, except when going on Pilgrimage, when conditions don't call for it or times have changed. It may be this practical less sheepish aspect of the believing male's personality that endeared him to his Maker.
March 11 - Why indeed!
Why did thousands have to die before Boko Haram was taken seriously?
Globe and Mail, Mar 11
Part of the problem, in my opinion, was Amnesty International which, until recently, very much painted the Nigerian military as the villain every time it engaged Boko Haram. The organisation seems to have a problem differentiating between the likes of Boko Haram and opposition from armed groups with legitimate grievances and with whom you can negotiate.
I am not suggesting that they give the military a pass, but they should understand the problems they face fighting what is very much a death cult whose members not only seek to kill you but to be killed (surrender is not an option for them) and thereby gain instant, no questions asked, access to Paradise.

Feb 15 - Copenhagen Attacks
There is a brutal logic in Islamists attacks on freedom of speech and expression for it leaves their religion vulnerable to ridicule more than any other mainstream religion e.g. abrogation.
Feb 12 - For Whom the Muezzin Tolls
About a month ago, a strange controversy broke out at Duke. The university had planned to allow Muslim students to broadcast the call to prayer from the chapel bell tower once a week. After a flood of complaints, threats from donors and security concerns, the school backed down.
For some Muslim American students, it was a small but telling indignity – a reminder that a significant portion of their neighbours considered a core portion of their identity, if not malicious, at least alien.
Omar El Akkad, Globe and Mail, Feb 12, 2014,
Islam is the proselytizing religion par-excellence and the brazen, loud call to prayer is central to that effort of getting converts. Is it any wonder there was opposition.

In Nigeria, new Boko Haram suicide bomber tactic: ‘It’s a little girl’
The New York Times News Service, Jan 10, 2015
Far be it for me to criticize the New York Times' reporting, but in suggesting that a ten year old girl may not have consented to blowing herself up and killing at least twenty people at an outdoor market is beside the point.
Under Sharia law, the legal age a female can make an informed choice is nine years old. If she said nothing because she did not know what was being asked of her, under Islamic law she is deemed to have given her approval. This is based on a response by the Prophet to a question about a virgin consenting to a marriage by remaining silent.
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, "A matron should not be given in marriage except after consulting her; and a virgin should not be given in marriage except after her permission."
The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle! How can we know her permission?"
He said, "Her silence (indicates her permission)."

Sooner or later in may be in all our interest to heed Boom-Boom's advice and commit a few of Allah's revelations to memory.
Boom-Boom: What is your favourite verse of the Koran?
Johnny: I don’t have one.
Boom-Boom: Sure you do. In this day and age everybody does. Your life may depend on it. One day you will be walking down a dark, deserted street and a man will approach you, not to ask you for money, but to ask you to recite a verse from the Koran and your ability to correctly recite a verse from that book will determine whether you live or die. If it's any comfort, believers who die from plagues such as Ebola, if they stayed put, will be considered martyrs with all the extras that entails.
I asked Allah's Apostle about the plague.
He said, "That was a means of torture which Allah used to send upon whom-so-ever He wished, but He made it a source of mercy for the believers, for anyone who is residing in a town in which this disease is present, and remains there and does not leave that town, but has patience and hopes for Allah's reward, and knows that nothing will befall him except what Allah has written for him, then he will get such reward as that of a martyr."

Secularism came to us on the back of a tank, and it has remained under its protection ever since.
The Saudis are very much to blame for needing tanks to protect secularism in the Muslim word. From Trofimov's interview with Tunisian writer and former diplomat Abdallah Amami:
In the twilight of the Bourguida era (first President of the Republic of Tunisia. In office from July 25, 1957 to 7 November 1987) Saudi Arabia's Wahhabi religious establishment flooded libraries in Tunisia—as in the rest of the Muslim world—with Qurans and books propagating its particular [virulent] brand of Islam.

Aug 15 - Why advisers on religion should be atheists
You may remember Baroness Sayeeda Warsi from a posting about her and women like her who seek to change a society which considers them equal by giving a larger role in public affairs to a religion which does not.
The Baroness has resigned as Minister of Faith in David Cameron’s Cabinet because of what she says is a “morally indefensible responses” to the crisis in Gaza, going as far as suggesting (if not encouraging), that it could trigger more terrorist attacks on British soil.
I believe, that if you are going to have a Minister of Faith in the Cabinet, he or she should be an atheist so that every religion gets the respect it deserves and the Prime Minister impartial advice on religious matters.
Aug 14 - Crucifixions Compared
The reported Crucifixions carried out by IS holy warriors may not have been only of Christians but of apostates.
How can you tell if it was a Christian or an apostate who was crucified?
If the apostate was crucified in Allah's recommended manner, he or she would first have had a hand and foot, on alternate sides, chopped off. This gruesome punishment which is part, in one form or another, of all mainstream schools of Sharia law is based on a number of revelations including what Pharaoh said He would do to his apostate magicians in the here-and-now.

April 8 - Preventing Another Holocaust
Tradition has it that it was an attempt on their Prophet's life which caused his death four years later.
The Church, by blaming the Jews for the death of Jesus made it easier for those who perpetrated the holocaust to go about their business with a clear conscience. The Christian churches have learned their lessons, and the Romans of antiquity are now correctly identified as those who caused the death of the Christians' Jewish Messiah.
Islam should do the same and admit, based on more credible hadith evidence, that their Messiah's death was an accident and not a Jewish woman's fault. It might even prevent another holocaust.

Hollywood blockbuster 'Noah' faces ban in Arab world … Islam frowns upon representing holy figures in art …
Cairo, Reuters March 8, 2014
Actually, Islam, the Sunni variety, frowns on any type of art form where humans or animals are depicted, but you already knew that.
Noah, in the Koran is quite the power-hungry buffoon, and like most of the important people from the Hebrew Bible whom Allah invited to strut their stuff in his Koran, a mass-murderer who calls on Allah to bring death and destruction to his people for thinking him a fraud, and which the author of the Koran was more than happy to oblige.
There may be more than meets the eye in Islamic scholars not wanting to give Noah and other interlopers from the Bible too much exposure; it might get people interested in what Allah revealed they actually said and did, and who knows where that will lead.
The depiction of a life-like Noah in a movie is not expected to provoke the massive hysterical reaction witnessed after the publication of cartoons of another of god's self-proclaimed spokesperson.

Pakistani Taliban announces one-month cease-fire

At least 11 killed in brazen attack on Pakistani court
Reuters, March 3, 2014
One reason Islamic terrorist groups have difficulty in enforcing a truce is the Prophet granting every Muslim the equivalent of a licence to kill other Muslims at his discretion. It all has to do with your interpretation of God's Will, and a feeling that Judgement Day is at hand.
I heard the Prophet saying, "In the last days (of the world) there will appear young people with foolish thoughts and ideas. They will give good talks, but they will go out of Islam as an arrow goes out of its game, their faith will not exceed their throats. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for there will be a reward for their killers on the Day of Resurrection."
The Prophet's invitation to murder young people who would think outside the box he and Allah constructed for the believers, is in keeping with his Patron's invectives against would-be-reformers.

About a million people in the Central African Republic - 20% of the population - have fled their homes during months of communal violence after Seleka (Muslims) rebels seized power last March.
BBC News January 30, 2014
And the killing started, and now Christians are killing Muslims. How did we come to this?
In the beginning, a man came along preaching that his father loved everyone and we should all love each other unconditionally.
600 years later, another man came along and said that the first man had not only lied about his relationship with God, but misinterpreted His message; that God only loves those who submit to His Will and hates everyone else, and so should those who submit to His Will, the most accepted meaning of Muslim.
Hate, it would seem, triumphs over love. It could not be any other way, for hate today comes well-armed and ready to kill and terrorize.
Christians are learning that in order to survive to love another day, they must adopt some of the haters' tactics, and that is unfortunate.

A more visible and orderly way will be found to execute, as was done the last time around, boisterous girls and females of all ages who dared to leave the home to work and attend classes, once the Taliban has murdered or negotiated its way back into power.
The more than 10,430 (International Crisis Group) religious fanatic factories that are the madrassas (Islamic religious schools) of Pakistan alone are sufficient to ensure that the supply of Students of the Koran (the meaning of Taliban) will always exceed the capacity of the forces sent to eradicate them. So how do we give the women Afghanistan a fighting a chance to save their lives?
Perhaps it’s time to think about arming the free women of Afghanistan so that they will be able to fight for their lives once the Students of the Koran reimpose the authority of the most vengeful of gods on that forsaken country.

Not "under any circumstances". Under another quirky disposition of Sharia Law, if the mother of the deceased Venezuelan President had, during Ahmadinejad’s friendship with her son, suckled him, as unlikely as that seems, the hug would not have been a sin.
