The Honourable Catherine McKenna
Minister of Environment and Climate Change
House of Commons
December 4, 2017
Dear Ms. McKenna,
A day after I announced the publication of Children and the Koran - The End of Empathy I received the first of what I expect will be many accusations of bigotry.
Associating criticism of Islam with bigotry and racism is a favourite if notorious tactic of those looking to silence critics with what they hope will be discussion-ending slurs. It is the lesser risk with which one must deal.
But, that is not the risk I want to talk about, it is the greater risk, the risk faced by those which slander fails to intimidate, the risk exemplified by the murders, in the Tradition of the Prophet, at Charlie Hebdo.
On November 27 you proudly announced on behalf of the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness that the Ottawa Muslim Association’s Hall of Peace would be getting $46,000 to fund a camera system and other security measures.
Security is also of some concern to me because of Children and the Koran (enclosed) a comprehensive argument against the Religion of Peace exposing children to its war-making-doctrine until they are old enough to decide for themselves if unbelievers are really Allah’s enemies deserving of the hate and violence He extols.
Your refusal to intervene on my behalf made the Honourable Scott Brison’s decision to deny my claim for restitution and an apology for having been “purged” from the Public Service for my “ethical orientation” inevitable.
That denial means I cannot afford the basic measures which are about the security of the person and not about protecting property like the taxpayer dollars your colleague the Honourable Ralph Goodale has made available to a congregation who, like me, seek to make our world a more peaceful one.
I now ask you to intervene with both the Honourable Ralph Goodale and the Honourable Scott Brison to fund a modicum of security to ensure my home remains my Hall of Peace.
Thank you and have a Merry Christmas
