Moderates and Extremists

It's not about doing what YOU think is right!

Canada Day and another party I will not be invited to again. This is not the first celebration I have attended where someone who has never read the Koran will come over to me, after hearing that I wrote a book about It (more than one actually), and tell me what it's all about and that what I wrote, whatever it is, is probably wrong.

I usually try to change the subject so as to avoid another pointless discussion. But, not this time. It may have been the wine. It did not go well.

It always surprises me that those who would tell me what Muslims and the Book which defines their faith are all about have not only not read the Book but don't have any believers as friends or acquaintances.

I am fortunate to be able to talk about some of what I write with Muslims whom I consider friends, although I am not sure, in some cases, if it is reciprocal. Nonetheless, our discussions are usually honest and never acrimonious for we both know, when the Koran is the subject matter, what we are talking about.

For us, unlike those who have never read the Koran and assume it is just like the Bible so why bother, what differentiates so-called moderates from extremists is that the former ignores, (if only for now, Taqiya permitting) Allah's clear and persistent calls to murder and martyrdom and the latter does not.

Taqiya i.e. dissimulation is permitted if it is done out of fear of persecution and will be forgiven if once this fear is attenuated you do what Allah and His Messenger tell you to do.

It is not a matter of interpretation, or doing what YOU think is right!

11:1 Alif – Lam – Ra. [This is] a Book with Verses which are elaborately formulated and clearly expounded from the Wise, the All-Aware.

Extremists have no problems with joyfully killing other Muslims for they are not real Muslims, they are hypocrites whom Allah hates as much, if not more than unbelievers, for real Muslims do what the Koran tells them to do without hesitation and without thinking.

Women, children, it didn't matter to him who he was shooting. He was shouting and smiling as he fired his AK-47 in all directions.

9:73 O Prophet, fight the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be stern with them. Their abode is Hell, and what a terrible fate!
